Stand Up For Idaho’s Constitution Camp for Kids
Stand Up For Idaho’s Constitution Camp for Kids aims to give our children an initial understanding of how our great country was founded and what our Founders went through. They learn about taxes, the tyranny of King George III, and what prompted the Revolutionary War. They learn about the men and women that founded our nation and the sacrifices they made to create our nation. They get to meet King George III, George Washington, Paul Revere, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Martha Washington, Betsy Ross, Abigail Adams and many of our other great Founders.
They learn about the Declaration of Independence, what is says, and what it means including our Founders pledge “… And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.” They learn about how the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights were developed and what each of the 10 Amendments of the Bill of Rights mean and why they are there.
Camp is for kids ages 8 through 12 (we call these kids ‘campers’) and we have a limit of 90 campers. The cost to attend is $60 per camper although there are discounts for additional campers from the same family. Camp is run by volunteers so there are also discounts if a parent volunteers to help all three days of camp. In addition to campers, we invite all teenagers ages 13 through 17 to volunteer as ‘helpers’. Teen helpers attend at no cost if they help all three days of camp.
Camp is held during the third week of July each year and this year runs Monday July 13th through Wednesday July 15th from 8:30am to 3:30pm with a patriotic program for parents on Wednesday evening.
